As the recent Ogboni Society launching takes a U-turn, the Nigerian National Union in Sierra Leone (NNUSL) has expressed regret over the current crisis involving the cultural festival of the Ogboni society.
According to a press release issued by the union, the NNUSL vehemently condemned “any activity that may destabilize the peace and cooperation between Nigerians and Sierra Leoneans.”
“We express the total commitment of all Nigerian Nationals to ideals for peace and harmony in Sierra Leone. We also respect the laws of the land,” the release states.
“Nigerians are peace loving nationals and would continue to promote harmony in the country,” it notes.
“We are optimistic that the crisis would not degenerate into hostility but would be amicably resolved for the peaceful co-existence of both Nigerians and Sierra Leoneans,” maintained the release.
Therefore, it adds, “we are appealing to Sierra Leoneans to exercise patience as all efforts are being made by the Union to resolve the misunderstanding.”
