8 Sierra Leoneans to participate in 2021 Mandela Fellowship
The U.S. Embassy in Freetown has announced eight young Sierra Leoneans to participate in this year’s Mandela Washington Fellowship, a flagship program of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI). The participants are Abubakarr Kikin Shequ Kun Daoh, Ibrahim Barrie, Josephine Kamara, Lois Simche Lebbie, Mariatu Kabba, Phebean Mesi-Musu Judith Jan Swill, Seina Amie Bakarr, and Tamba Sabah.

President Maada Bio and Minister of Health Dr. Austin Demby, have concluded a teleconference with Dr. Seth Berkley, CEO of Gavi the vaccine alliance, resulting in the agreement to deliver another consignment of vaccines very soon.
Free Hemorrhoid surgery in Makeni
The management of the New Hope Hospital in Makeni, is hereby informing the general public that a team of surgical experts will be coming from UK to conduct a free Hemorrhoid (piles) surgery. Project team meets to assess mini stadium site

Sierra Leone Leads African Countries at poverty alleviation seminar
Representatives of African youth from 13 countries led by Sierra Leone and Chinese youth cadres met over the weekend in the old revolutionary base area in Xing County, Lyuliang , North China’s Shanxi province to talk about poverty alleviation and development, as well as the future of China-Africa cooperation. The China-Africa Future Leaders Dialogue: Seminar on Poverty Alleviation and Development was organized by the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC).

Jamaica High Commissioner meets Tourism Minister
The Jamaican High Commissioner accredited to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Cameroon and Senegal, Esmond St. C. Reid has met with Minister of Tourism Dr. Memunatu Pratt at the Ministry’s Head Office in Freetown, recommended the establishment of a joint commission for the two countries. Iranian Embassy to support Tourism Ministry with Handicraft Training
Ambassador of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Sierra Leone, A. Khosravinezhad has informed the Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Dr. Memunatu Pratt that instructors from Iran will be in Sierra Leone to train people on handicrafts. The Ambassador made this disclosure during his second visit to Minister Pratt at the Ministry’s Head Office in Freetown.
