New Regent Chief formally presented to Koya

The newly appointed Regent Chief of Koya chiefdom in the Kenema district chief Abdul Karim Karifa alias KK have been officially presented to the people of Koya in the Koya chiefdom in Kenema district in a special ceremony.
Formally presenting the Regent chief to the people of Koya chiefdom the Provincial Secretary East Samuel Kenneth Bryma on behalf of the government of Sierra Leone said the appointment of Regent chief are laid down principles in the country’s law adding that any government in power has the constitutional right to appoint any well meaning Sierra Leonean for the position of Regent chief in any part of the country.
The Provincial Secretary told  the people of Koya chiefdom that there new Regent chief is their care taker whose responsibility is to improve on the peaceful administration in the chiefdom, foster unity, peace and development in the chiefdom and to maintain and uphold the custom and traditional values of the chiefdom.
The tusk which represent the symbol of responsibility, trust, commitment and dedication was publicly handed over to the new Regent Chief Abdul Karim Karifa alias KK by the provincial secretary east Samuel Kenneth Bryma.
In his maiden speech the Regent Chief of Koya chiefdom Mr. Abdul Karim Karifa thanked the people of Koya chiefdom, the Provincial administration, the government of Sierra Leone, delegates from Bo in the South, Freetown in the Western Area and  Kenema in the East  for gracing the ceremony.
Regent Chief Karim Karifa further said his appointment came from God Almighty and backed by His Excellency the President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma and the people of Sierra Leone.
Mr. Karim said he has been appointed to govern and serve the people of Koya according to the tradition and customs of the chiefdom and that the people of Koya are not his servant but masters as he is there to serve them. He assured the people of Koya chiefdom for his commitment towards development of the chiefdom and called on the people to put their political indifferences aside and work together for the development of their chiefdom and the nation as a whole. 
Chief Karifa advised the chiefdom people to always include youths and women in their development activities in the chiefdom.
Chief K.K. described the road network to Koya town and in the chiefdom as deplorable and need urgent attention, he also spoke about the national resources environment in the Koya chiefdom and encourage the people of the chiefdom to pay their rate saying that it will help fast track the development process of the chiefdom. Concluding Regent Chief Karim Karifa prays for love, unity and asked for corporation in the Koya chiefdom.
The presentation ceremony was chaired by Former Hon. Member of parliament of the APC Francis Darlington Lattu. Cultural performances climax the occasion.
Present at the ceremony were the section chief of Gbo-Lambaya in Nongowa chiefdom Alhaji Ahmed Benson Suwu, F.M.Jiba from the Provincial secretary’s office, Chief Joseph Vandi Moijue Gbetuwa, APC Regional chairman Prince Kamara and Deputy Chief Administrator of the Kenema District Council Augustine Amara.
