The University of Sierra Leone Search Committee has recommended Chemistry Professor Thomas Nyormah for the position of Deputy Vice Chancellor of Fourah Bay College (FBC).
Two others, Professor Ekundayo Thompson and Dr. Baila Leigh have also been appointed to act as Deputy Vice Chancellors of the Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM) and College of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences (COMAHS) respectively. They were told to act because the application of Prof. Thompson to become Deputy Vice Chancellor was not looked in to because he will be 65years soon whilst that of Dr. Baila Leigh was because he is not an Associate Professor.
Professor Abu Sesay, a Professor of Biological Sciences has also been appointed as Deputy Vice Chancellor of Njala University College. Professor Abu Sesay will be coming from Botswana to take up the appointment.
Three Professors, Joe A.D Alie, former Dean of the faculty of Arts and University orator and Professor of History, Professor Thomas Nyormah Dean of the Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences and Professor of Chemistry and Professor Ernest Ndomahina, Director of Marine Biology and Oceanography applied to become Deputy Vice Chancellor of FBC.
Despite the appointment of Professor Redwood Sawyer as acting Chancellor of the University of Sierra Leone, the Search Committee is still on the lookout for a replacement of Professor Albert Aiah Gbakima.
The University Search Committee members are: Hon. P.C Bai Kurr Kanagbaro III, Hon Chernoh Ramadan Maju Bah, Akiwande Lasite, Director General Ministry of Education, I. May Parker, and Professor Harry Turay.
