The New Life Ministries women’s department on Sunday celebrated their 11th year conference thanksgiving service at the church at Miracle City, Ross Road.
The theme of the conference was ‘my season of laughter.’
The ceremony was officially launched on October 9, 2012 by the host Bishop J. Archibald Cole, who referred to the book of Genesis 21:3-6 ‘is anything too hard for the Lord? At the appointed time, I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son. Then Sarah denied, saying, I laughed not; for she was afraid. And he said, Nay; but thou didst laugh.’
He said Sarah went through a lot of ridicule but at the end, he bore a son called Isaac which caused her to laugh and all that heard her, laughed with her.
Bishop Cole said as Sarah suffered and later laughed, so shall the women of Sierra Leone laugh, after the enemy thinks he has finished with them.
He therefore told the women that this is their season of laughter and prayed that laughter will be their potion in all they set their hands to do.
The brains behind the women conference is Lady Reverend Irene Cole, wife of the Bishop.
She said that she got the vision eleven years ago and all of those years it has been a success and for that she is grateful to God. She said there are a lot of testimonies from it and stated that if only women open their hearts to God, He will grant them laughter.
Lady Cole said ‘I am sure every woman has a dream despite the odds, it may have to do with job, marriage, children, health, or business but God wants you to trust him.’
The conference, held annually, brought together, successful women from the country and oversees to share their several experiences of life and are also willing to tell women to take their place in the nation and to be steadfast in serving God as they are the eyes of God Almighty.
This programme tells women to come out of the Kitchen and be side by side with men in making decisions of personal and national importance.
