President Mwai Kibaki Monday at State House, Nairobi received credentials from six diplomats accredited to serve in the country from around the world.
President Kibaki received credentials from the diplomats of the Republics of Sierra Leone, Niger, Trinidad & Tobago, North Korea, Bosnia & Herzegovina and the State of Qatar.
Presenting his credentials H.E. Mr. Andrew Gbebay Bangali High Commissioner of Sierra Leone thanked Kenya for contributing peacekeeping troops to the United Nations Mission in Sierra Leone (UNAMSIL) which helped the country regain stability and its rightful position in the family of nations.
He noted that Sierra Leone was grateful to Kenya because the country has gradually re-established democracy after the civil war which led to the death and displacement of thousands of its civilians.
Receiving credentials from the Ambassador of Qatar Mr Jassim Abdel Aziz Al-Boainain, President Kibaki noted that Kenya and Qatar enjoyed cordial relations which should be strengthened for the benefit of the two countries and their respective citizens.
On his part the Qatar’s Ambassador affirmed that he was keen and committed to strengthening the existing ties between the two countries.
Presenting his credentials to President Kibaki the new Bosnia & Herzegovina ambassador to Kenya, Mr. Slobodan Soja pledged to expand the existing bilateral ties between the two countries.
Mr. Slobodan Soja noted that the two countries enjoy cordial bilateral ties and promised to enhance cooperation and create opportunities that are beneficial to both nations.
Others who presented their credentials during the occasion were H.E. Mrs. Diamballa Maimouna Ambassador of the Republic of Niger, H.E. Mr. Patrick Edwards High-Commissioner of Trinidad and Tobago and H.E. Mr. Pak Hyon-Jae Ambassador of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
President Kibaki urged the envoys to sample the friendliness and generosity of Kenyans as well as to visit various worldwide renowned tourist-attraction sites in the country.
He called on the diplomats to strive to broaden and deepen the existing bilateral ties between Kenya and their countries to the highest levels possible.
