Chief Superintendent Theophillus Senesie who took over the security of Bo on the 15th of November last year has told Awoko that this festive season was the first time Bo Town has gone without a single major security incident terming it as “cool and calm”.
During the festive season of Christmas and New Year he said that there was no major security incident of a higher magnitude like “armed robbery, rape, burglary or larceny.”
But this he said was coming on the “very positive changes in the security architecture” that he effected immediately upon taking over office from the erstwhile Local Unit Commander Joseph Kabbia.
The strategy he explained was just embarking on letting his subjects know that policing is competitive vis-a-vis with other Police divisions, proliferation of Police posts at strategic points in the town and the rehabilitation of the minds of the Police under him.
Coupled with that was also the utility of Police intelligence. He explained that he made sure that people were taught to know that performance evaluation of people also comes in the Police Force and so also was the constant review of Police performance and policing plans.
The Local Police Board he explained was also properly utilized in achieving his aim of “tranquility in Bo”.
President Koroma promises Moyamba people Hydro
President Ernest Koroma on Saturday told the people of the South that the Moyamba District will soon go out of darkness. He made this declaration at the Bo Coronation Field where a throng of people from the Southern region gathered to receive their own sons and daughter who have been made Ministers in the government of President Koroma.
He explained that feasibility studies have already been done on the project and that the findings are that the Moyamba Hydro will have a higher capacity than the Dodo Hydro supplying Bo and Kenema at the present. The Moyamba Hydro he went on to say will have a capacity of about 11Megawatz. But this was not the only project for the people of Moyamba. He stated that the present road construction going on in Freetown, Bo, Kenema and Makeni has two phases with Moyamba, Pujehun, Kono, Bonthe, Pujehun and Kabala to gain in the second phase. This second phase he however explained will kick off after 2012 as the present one lasts till 2012. He acknowledged that the present situation of darkness throughout the nation is terrible but that the people of Sierra Leone deserve more than this.
