The Anglican Bishop of Freetown and the North, the Rt. Rev. Julius O. P. Lynch has ordained seven Deacons and one Priest into the Anglican Communion. The ordination ceremony which attracted thousands of Christians both within and without the Anglican Church was held on Sunday, 26th February 2012 at the St. Georges Cathedral at George Street.
The ordainands into Deacon were; Mrs. Edna Iyamide Jalloh, Raymond Sumori Amara, Pinkney Latelewa Wilhelm, Onike Grace Atiba-Davies, Georgiana Rosamond Margret Scott and Albert Kayinde George while the Rev. Lionel Crompton-Thomas was ordained as a full priest.
After being given their licenses and certificates by the Diocesan Registrar, Hon. Justice Canon Patrick O. Hamilton, the ordainands were then posted to various churches where they will discharge their various duties.
In his charge at the solemn service, the Rt. Rev. Tom Barnett, Head of the Lutheran Church in Sierra Leone, admonished the newly ordained to walk closely with God as the task for which they have been called is not an easy one. He congratulated them and assured them of his prayers at all times.
The Anglican Church was also pleased to announce to its congregation the elevation of some of its eminent members, three of whom were appointed Justices of Peace namely; Bishop J.O.P. Lynch, Rev. Canon Adjai Nicol and Rev. Thomas Wilson. Canon Modupeh Taylor Pearce, it was announced has been appointed Pro-Chancellor of the University of Sierra Leone while Canon Emerson Thomas has also been appointed Head of Department Faculty of Philosophy and Religious Studies.
