Makeni, SIERRA LEONE – In a thrilling encounter of Northeast Region Football Association (NERFA) Women’s Division One, the Rising Queens showcased their dominance by securing a resounding victory of 8-0 against their formidable opponents, Sebereh Queens.
The match was filled with excitement and witnessed an extraordinary performance from the Rising Queens, who left no stone unturned in their quest for victory.
By demonstrating exceptional skill and teamwork, they rendered the Sebereh Queens powerless and emerged triumphant in a remarkable fashion in the first game of the second ever regional women’s first division playoff, which also serves as the qualifiers for the national women’s playoff.
On the day, Rising Queens, a female team based in Makeni, dominated their opponents Sebereh Queens from Mile 91 with a devastating 8-0 victory.
The determined visitors wasted no time in asserting their presence on the field, scoring two goals in the 8th and 9th minutes thanks to their in-form forward, Zainab Jalloh. Shortly after, Cecelia S. Bangura and Salamatu Kamara added their names to the scoresheet, making it a commanding 4-0 lead for Rising Queens before halftime.
In the second half, it only took 19 minutes for the visitors to extend their lead even further to 5-0 through a precise finish from Adamsay D. Sesay. This goal opened the floodgates for her teammates Maseray Turay and Bilkish, who scored in the 63rd and 68th minutes respectively, pushing the score to an overwhelming 7-0 in favour of Rising Queens.
The misery for Sebereh Queens was sealed with an own goal, resulting in a heavy 8-0 defeat to the experienced team from Makeni in the 2023/24 Northeast Region Women’s First Division league.
This resounding victory puts Rising Queens at the top of Group B with three points and a goal difference of eight, leaving Suba United and Malimba Queens behind. On the other hand, Sebereh Queens find themselves at the bottom of the league table. ARW/2/1/2024
