Nepean Stars FC of Bo is reported to be in disarray, as they have embarked on a strike action for several months now.
According to football sources in Bo, the strike came about when the Executive Members of the club made a promise to the players that if they fought relegation in the Africell SLFA Premier League, they would be given some money. The source further intimated that this promise was not adhered to.
The Assistant Coach Ishmael Sesay explained that the Executive Board Members headed by the President, Samir Saad, had failed to give the specific sum of money that was promised to the players should they survive the relegation battle.
“After this promise the boys became motivated to fight back as they were able to win their remaining matches to stay at the premier league,” he further stated. For this, the boys deserve a better treatment, he stressed.
Giving his own side of the story, the President of Nepean Stars FC, Samir Saad said that everything was okay with the club, adding that there are only minor issues to be settled. He also expressed optimism that everything would be settled before the commencement of the next SLFA Premier League.
