The Northern Regional headquarters Tally Centres in Makeni have received 2,991 polling Stations results from the five districts, out of the established 3302 polling Stations in the north, giving a total of 91% of the northern results being received so far, with an outstanding of 311 polling Stations.
It could be recalled that there are 39 constituencies in the North, Port Loko district being the highest with 10 constituencies, Bombali second with 9, while Tonkolili, Kambia and Koinadugu have 8, 6 and 6 constituencies respectively.
According to the Northern Region Tally Centres information chart where details of polling Stations are indicated, it shows that Port Loko district originally had an established 850 polling Stations from which 714 TEE’s have so far reached the Regional Tally Centres, with an outstanding of 136.
The chart indicated that Port Loko district presently has the highest outstanding as per district polling Stations returns for Tally at the Regional Tally Centres.
A civil society activist in Makeni, Alhassan Kargbo, described the process in the Tally Centres as very transparent, open and of standards.
He said the initiative by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to introduce tally Centres at district and regional levels to ease the counting on NEC, was very timely and important.
Alhassan Kargbo said after the regional Tally Centres would have received all the Polling Stations results, we’ll tally reflective of what happened on the voting day and also tally with the registrations pattern, then, NEC will be in place to pronounce the final result.
