The new skipper of the National Cricket team Lansana Lamin yesterday disclosed to Awoko that they are assuring Sierra Leoneans of victory in the up coming division two cricket league competitions in South Africa slated for April 24-29 this year.
He also stated that to achieve that, they are going to the competition well prepared and focused to achieve their dream which will be good for the country.
He also said that with luck on their side they will be victorious even though it is not going to be easy as all the teams are well prepared to win the trophy.
Lamin also mentioned that he feels happy to be the captain of the National team because they will be taking part in a very important competition that would improve the country’s status in Cricket.
He stated that as a captain he believes this particular team with youthful players from the U-19 squad has excelled in international competitions and they have been blended with players like George Kpundeh, Mustapha Kallon will give the team the balance it needs.
He also stated he has been in the national team for 8 years and he has never been dropped from the National team because in any competition he always put up outstanding performance.
And this time as a captain he is going to do everything possible to maintain such standard or do more than that as they want to qualify the team to the division eight world cricket league which now qualify them to play in Europe and not in Africa
The delegation will comprise of the following Beresford Bounce-Coker President and leader of the delegation, Ainoh Scott-team Manager, Solomon Fatoma – coach. The players include Lansana Lamin captain, AbuBakarr Kamara (Assistant Captain), George Kpundeh, Mustapha Kallon, Ibrahim Kamara, Emmanuel Kamara, Edward Marah, Ibrahim Kabia, Ibrahim Mansaray, Brima Ansumana, Abess Gbla, Alie John Kamara, and Julius Quee.
