NASSIT manager appointed to represent comedians on Entertainment Board

Sierra Leone: Popular international stand-up comedian and Public Relations Specialist Desmond Benya has been appointed by the Ambassador for Entertainment and Investment, Amara Turay Jalloh, aka Kao Denero, to represent comedians on the Sierra Leone Entertainment Board.

The 2019 AWOL Best Comedian of the year is the Manager of the Public Affairs and Events Management Division at the National Social Security and Insurance Trust – NASSIT.

With over 25 years of experience, Desmond has represented Sierra Leone in the diaspora trailblazing as he bags awards and accolades. The stand-up comedian, who chaired the wedding of President Bio and the First Lady, holds a Master’s degree in Mass Communication, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and a diploma in Mass Communication, all from Fourah Bay College.

Speaking about his new appointment, Desmond said he is determined and dedicated to work with Ambassador Kao Denero and other members of the Entertainment Board of Sierra Leone to skyrocket the country’s entertainment industry to world level, and for the voice of comedians to be heard. He applauded President Bio for appointing Ambassador Kao Denero, who has vast local and international experience in the entertainment business, and asked Sierra Leoneans to continue to support the entertainment industry.

He thanked his family, wife, son, fans and colleagues for the support they have given him all these years, saying that he will “represent all and not a chosen few”.

He also thanked members of the Sierra Leone Association of Comedians (SLAC) for their support and promised to work for the good of the association, the membership, and for the betterment of Sierra Leone entertainment. OG/15/04/2021
