The National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT) has acquired 58 acres of land in Kebbie Town Bo City for the construction of affordable housing.
This was disclosed by the Public Relations Officer of NASSIT Bo, Mr Mohamed Bangalie who stated that the essence of the affordable housing units was to salvage the basic problems in the country, moreso for those in retirement.
He also said that was one way in which NASSIT works to enhance national development and also encourage the private sector to get involved in the housing business
Mr Bangalie stated further that NASSIT plans to set up a home finance bank where the bank will purchase the houses and then mortgage it to pensioners.
These affordable houses will have a school, market, mosque and church to make it into a community.
Kenema and Makeni are also to benefit from the NASSIT housing scheme.
The various Resident Ministers are expected to turn the sod on the 3rd, 4th and 5th June respectively.
