The Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of crime services Francis Munu has announced a two million leones reward for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators of the murder of Fullah business man Alhaji Lamrana Bah of No 9 Free Street last Friday.
Addressing the press at Police Headquarters in Freetown he said that one Mohamed Bah and company of No. 14B “Reservation View” Allen Town, last Friday at about 9:25 pm reported that around 8: 30 pm along Old Road at Mabureh junction, Calaba Town, armed men in a car with no registration number shot at one Alhaji Lamrana Bah who was onboard his Mercedes Benz car with registration number AAT 672.
AIG Munu disclosed that the deceased sustained gun- shot wounds which resulted in his death.
Police he said visited the scene of crime and discovered empty shells and one live bullet which are presently with the Major Incident Team (MIST).
He also maintained that these are being treated as exhibits while an intensive investigation is in progress.
AIG Munu pointed out that, “we have set up MIST so that we will walk the clock to find the authors of the crime”.
Mr Munu revealed that, police is assuring members of the bereaved family and the public that every thing humanly possible will be done to apprehend and bring the offenders to justice.
In this regard he said a two million Leones reward will be awarded by the police to anybody with vital or relevant information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the offenders.
He promised the public that both the information and identity of the informant will be strictly kept in confidence.
“Crime is a national issue and must be handled by all, but that does not mean that people should take advantage of the situation” said AIG Munu while stating that the police cannot do its work effectively if they do not have the support of the community.
Meanwhile the deceased has been laid to rest yesterday and investigation into the matter continues.
