Police officers at the Major Incidence Support Team (MIST) at Police headquarters in Freetown yesterday disclosed to Awoko that one suspect was currently in custody for the murder of Lamrana Bah, a Fullah businessman
The deceased was shot dead in February at Mamboi Junction Calaba Town whilst returning home.
According to the police officers, the suspect was arrested on Easter Sunday at New Road at Wellington from information they received from the community people where the suspect live.
They noted that they were investigating whether the suspect committed the crime or not.
Asked if the suspect had been indicted for any offence, they revealed that the suspect had been indicted for similar crimes.
Lamrana Bah, the ex-president for the foreign exchange businesspeople at Free Street, was returning home one Friday evening in his private car when he was attacked and shot at close range.
The person who was with him when he was shot, Chernor Bah, explained to Awoko that they were returning home from their business centre at Free Street when the incidence occurred at around 7:30 pm.
He narrated that, “We took off from Free Street for home, but we dropped one person off before we proceeded towards Calaba Town. It seems some people were pursuing us and when we approached Calaba Town, a car overrode us which forced us to stop. They started using invectives on us demanding where the money was kept. It was at that point that somebody shouted from the right side of the car ‘kill him’. Lamrana was then shot at close range but then we had ran away”.
Police had earlier announced a ransom of two million Leones for any information leading to the arrest of those responsible for Lamrana’s death.
