The ware house belonging to Medicine Sans Frontiers located on the Bo-Kenema highway was on Thursday night May 20 engulfed by fire which reduced the entire structure and all its contents into ashes
There has been no official reason that cause of fire, but the timely arrival of Fire Force was able to prevent the fire from spreading outside the compound and thus saving the main administrative building. However, frightened neighbors were quick to evacuate and pack some of their belongings as the fire was blazing. MSF officials contacted on the matter flatly refused to speak to curious reporters including the police saying it’s outside their mandate
Speaking to Awoko, the Executive Director Crime Research Centre Augustine Mbayo explained how the fire threatened their nearby Police office, and as a result the side mirror of a vehicle with registration number AER 253 was broken. It must be stated that the warehouse had in stock millions of Leones worth of property including bails of blankets and other materials meant for MSF personnel and patients were all burnt.
This latest fire disaster comes barely three weeks following another incident within the same perimeter of the Medicine Sans Frontier compound leaving behind various destructions all of which has continue to give rise to wide spread speculations. The police had intensified their efforts to get to the root cause of the fire.
