A Bo District Member of Parliament, Hon. Omarr Paran Tarawally who represents constituency 69, has commended the initiative of the ongoing operation WID but at the same time expressed doubts about whether it’s going to be sustainable.
Hon. Tarawally gave reasons for his doubts due to the fact that government (s) have always been hesitant in taking some tough decision geared towards nation building because of the occupational hazards of democracy; that a decision of such nature would have an adverse effect on whichever party would have initiated it, during electioneering period.
He said that due to the transformation in terms of decongesting the city and towns, the operation has brought in just a month, he expressed optimism that if the initiative continues, there is every possibility that the cities will have a complete face-lift before the year ends.
Moreover, he said that personnel executing the operation should be well-equipped in terms of appropriate logistics and remuneration, so that they will be motivated to work without compromise.
He said that Sierra Leone has been known for quickly initiating programmes but falls short of implementing them, simply because lots of compromise and lack of logistics and unwillingness are experienced when the execution of those initiatives would have taken off.
Hon. Tarawally therefore appealed to the government and the City Council to continue, in good faith, the initiative that has the possibility of partly contributing to the positive changes the country has desired for so long.
