MP donates sports equipment to Constituency 09

The Member of Parliament representing Constituency 09 in Kenema District, Hon. Mathew Sahr Nyuma, has donated a set of jerseys, a football and Le600.000 cash to the youths and people of Burma three sections in Kenema. During the handing over ceremony, Hon Mathew Nyuma described the donation as part of his effort toward the development of soccer and infrastructure in his constituency with special reference to Zone 24 in the Burma community. Sahr Nyuma further stated that the donation is in fulfillment of the felt needs of youths in the Burma three communities, noting that he intends to present Le1, 200,000 to youths in the area for road construction and rehabilitation project, adding that half of the said amount has already been handed over to the beneficiaries. He also intimated that upon the conclusion of the first road construction and rehabilitation project the remaining amount will be handed over to the Burma Youth Development Association. The Member of Parliament confirmed that similar donations have already been made to youths in other parts of the constituency to enable them contribute positively to the development of their communities. He lamented that the Mayor of Kenema City Council, Chief Brima Kargbo, has expressed dissatisfaction over the manner in which the people of Burma three sections are responding to Council’s development programmes in their communities. He called on the people of Burma three communities to inculcate the culture of appreciating what little they receive from the Council and development agencies with open hands in the interest of community development. In his statement, the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) Chairman in zone 24, Richard Saffa, described the donation as timely and that they will use it to announce development programmes in their communities. He assured the MP of their continuous support at all times and encouraged the Honourable to thread consciously when actualizing development projects in their communities. He appealed to all and sundry to be developmentally oriented at all times, adding that development is a continuous process.
