Honourable Mohammed Albert Tarawalie has said stigmatization of HIV/AIDS victims is bad and that it is unacceptable.
He said this during an anti stigmatization and discrimination campaign mounted by Sierra Leone Youth Network on HIV/AIDS in Freetown.
The lawmaker, with a placard which read: ‘stop stigmatization and discrimination of people living with HIV/AIDS,’ stated that, “those affected with HIV are human beings who can contribute meaningfully towards the development of Sierra Leone”, adding that people affected by the virus should not be looked upon as bad people but rather people should show them love and encouragement.
Mr Philip Mayenie from the ministry of Education Youth and Sports said his ministry had also being in the campaign against HIV/AIDS especially with pupils, students, teachers and the youth.
On the day of the campaign 40 cartoons of male and female condoms were distributed.
