The Member of Parliament representing constituency 17 in the Kenema District Hon. Madam Safula Moijueh has donated Le400, 000, worth of football jerseys and four bags of rice to youths of Small Bo Chiefdom.
She described football as a strong pillar of unity and promotes sportsmanship in the Chiefdom adding that the Blama community has been set back in terms of football activities in the area.
Hon. Moijueh also said even though she is representing the Sierra Leone People’s Party in Parliament her responsibility is to represent all within her constituency irrespective of their political background. She encouraged youths of constituency 17 to be developmentally focused and they should not allow politicians to use them for their own selfish means.
She assured all in her constituency of her commitment towards the actualization of development programs.
In his statement the Chairman of Star of the East Group, Mohamed Amodu Sesay disclosed that 70% of the Sierra Leonean population is youths and that 60% of the population is languishing on the streets with no job opportunities – a situation he described as regrettable on the part of the youths.
He described the role being played by youths in national development as crucial adding that even though youths are the back bone of national politics they have not received much. Not much he says have been derived to their advantage a condition he says is volatile. He appealed to the MP to hear the cry of the youths. He called on the youths to embark on meaningful programmes within their constituencies for their well being and not to allow politicians to misuse them.
