With the increase of school children now attending school, it is evidently clear that more school buses are needed for their safety as they transit to and from school. This came as a result of children involved in road accidents on the day of the National Primary School Education (NPSE), when a photo of a young boy involved in a motorbike accident on his way to take his exam went viral. Two other pupils were also involved in that accident, where no one was hurt or died, as was reported on social media.
Minister of Basic Senior Secondary School Education (MBSSE) Dr. David Moinina Sengeh visited the families of the 3 pupils involved in the unfortunate incident to provide them moral support. He said government is aware of the need for more school buses, and the many accidents involving children on their way to and from school have brought urgency to the resolution needed to get transportation options for learners across the country.
“I want to assure that the MBSSE will continue to seek the interest and commitment to work with the pupils to ensure they can effectively transition to secondary school,” Minister Sengeh said.
