The Ministry of Health and Sanitation (MOHS) has held a day meeting at the Ministry of Health and Sanitation office along Maxwell Khobe Street in Kenema city with civil society organizations, the media, Non Governmental Organizations, district and city councils members among others on the planning for Global Hand Washing day on 15th October 2009.
Addressing the meeting the District Health Superintendent Olai Sankoh says the aim of the meeting is to plan with key stakeholders and all community people on the launching of Global Hand Washing day.
He disclosed that many health related matters are as a result of poor hand washing habits in the communities.
He called on the people to help the health ministry in achieving its goals in improving on the health of the people in the country.
In her contribution the Manager for Defence for Children International (DCI) Satta Senesie described the planning meeting as important because it will help the various affected communities in the district, adding that many children die as a result of diseases related to poor hand washing habits. She called on the various community people and the committees set up to be committed during and after the programme.
She reminded all and sundry that everyone is very important in preventive matters admonishing them that all should take the process very seriously in the country.
