The Prisons Medical Doctor Mohamed Legali Konton-Coker yesterday tendered in court a comprehensive medical report as exhibits D1 and D2 which indicates that the 10th accused, in the on-going trial of Illegal Landing at the Airport, Mohamed Bashir Sesay, will soon die in jail if he is not given adequate medical attention out side the Pademba Road Prisons.
The Doctor told the court that the health condition of the 10th accused had worsened after he collapsed in his cell at night on the 25th August 2008, noting that this has resulted to partial stroke and chest pain.
He further told the court that the Pademba Road Prisons Hospital lacks the adequate logistics, drugs and staff to administer treatment to the accused.
The Medical Doctor also told the court that he examined the accused yesterday morning before going to court and observed that he now drags his feet and also suffers from severe chest and back pains, to the point that he is not fit to attend court proceedings.
He further stressed that the medical report made a recommendation to transfer the accused to another medical center where he could receive the required treatment for his illness in order to avoid untimely death in jail.
The Defense Counsel lead by Roland Wright applied for a transfer of the 10th accused to a medical center out side the Prisons Compound and assured the court of maximum security where ever the accused may be admitted for treatment.
Meanwhile the 15th accused who was also sick in prison, yesterday appeared in court.
