Mohamed Lainkuray Bangura, aka ML Bangura, has told this press that he will be dropping the perjury charges against the leader of the All People’s Congress (APC), Ernest Bai Koroma, and others today at the Freetown Magistrate Court No1.
He disclosed that after he had had his press conference sometime last week the [Ernest Koroma’s camp] set up a committee of three people who negotiated with him to rejoin the party.
ML Bangura noted that he had no grudge against the party or Mr Koroma. “All I wanted was to clean the party so that come July 28 the APC will win the elections,” he stated.
The former dissenter revealed that he had chatted with his lawyer and informed him that he wanted to drop the charges against Ernest Bai Koroma and others, adding that come April 26 he would also do the same at the Magistrate Court No 3 and May 3rd at the Appeal Court.
He assured party supporters that after he would have dropped the charges the party would be a strong force and that he had faith in the leadership of Ernest Bai Koroma.
It will be recalled that the case against Ernest Koroma and others has taken about four years with no progress.
