Miss Sierra Leone 2008, Tyrilia Chukuma Gouldson has placed Sierra Leone on the map in the just concluded 2008 Miss World beauty pageant in South Africa.
Tyrilia was among the104 contestants that qualified out of the initial 184.
She was rated 12th for best beach body; 8th for top model, 23rd for her charity documentary, and ranked 18th out of the 104 qualified contestants.
“I came with two awards a real diamond bracelet and my second award is a bronze mixed with copper worth about $ 5,000 and few others,” she disclosed.
The beauty queen said, she is really happy and appreciative, “it was a surprise to me after going through such pressures and pains; I was skeptical whether I would make it.”
Though she went through hell, to get to her achievement in the contest, Tyrilia confessed, “it was fun at the end of the day. I made lots of friends who never knew about Sierra Leone but are now preparing to come to Sierra Leone; I intend preparing a dinner for them,” Tyrilia disclosed.
Giving a breakdown of her experience and what it was like in South African, the 2008 Salone beauty queen said that South Africa’s structural development took her aback, adding that she also admired how patriotic and nationalist South Africans are.
However, she revealed that she had an attack “for two weeks I was not in the competition, they took care of three of my operations, they supported me. After the two weeks I went to the competition for a week and three days [and was ranked for the various events I competed in]
“I won three awards and also two contracts from Laurel a company that deals with cosmetics’. The company is presently working on my documentation as my contract should start in March,” she disclosed.
