Freetown, SIERRA LEONE – In an unforeseen turn of events, the Miss Earth and Miss Intercontinental pageants for Sierra Leone have encountered unexpected hurdles, leaving contestants stranded and the International Agency for Miss Sierra Leone (IAMSL) grappling with logistical challenges.
The CEO, Natasha Beckley, revealed that both Miss Earth Sierra Leone and Miss Intercontinental Sierra Leone missed their respective flights to Vietnam and Egypt due to disruptions caused by the recent security situation in the country over the weekend.
According to her this unfortunate development has not only left the contestants in a state of distress but has also imposed financial burdens on IAMSL, as they now must navigate the complexities of change penalties for the altered flight schedules.
“The ripple effect of the security situation has cast a shadow over the participation of Sierra Leone in these prestigious international pageants. Miss Earth Sierra Leone and Miss Intercontinental Sierra Leone, who had undoubtedly prepared diligently for these global stages, find themselves grappling with the uncertainty of their participation,” Madam Beckley explained.
However, she reaffirmed IAMSL’s commitment to the success and representation of Sierra Leone on the international stage, ensuring that the dreams of these young women are not thwarted by circumstances beyond their control.
Despite the challenges faced, the resilience and determination of the contestants and the IAMSL team shine through. Their hope remains that alternative paths will be secured to showcase their talent, elegance, and dedication on these esteemed platforms. PSN/2/12/2023
