The General Manager of Milla Group, Sierra Leone Limited Sony Ramakrishnan has written a letter of concern to the Mayor of Freetown Herbert George Williams over the apparent blockage of their factory front.
The General Manager raised the concern against a garage close to his factory and houses built on the wayside.
He explained in the letter to the Mayor that his factory is situated at J.Mattar which is located at Fisher lane but that the said garage always uses the factory’s entrance as a parking space.
Notwithstanding that, he mentioned that because the entrance is used as a parking lot, it makes it very difficult for his company vehicles, the trailers and other utility transport access to the route.
Explaining the dangers behind the concern, he stated that he feared any unforeseen circumstance for his factory trailers loaded with containers frequently moving in and out colliding with either the houses or the parked vehicles.
He explained further that he had explained to the authorities and the road engineer of the Sierra Leone Roads Authority about what he referred to as unforeseen circumstances.
The General Manager also said he had informed the community elders of Fisher lane about the conduct of the garage owners and of the structures sprouting up on the way to the factory.
He therefore said to the Mayor that ‘’we need your assistance urgently because it endangers the lives of people especially children in the community’’
One of the garage workers who spoke under condition of anonymity told Awoko that they have a lot of parking space in their garage and they do not park vehicles on the route to the factory.
He said that most of the vehicles parked on the road were owned by people not related to the garage.
The FCC Mayor is yet to reply
