David Scott a Sergeant Metropolitan Officer of the Freetown City Council was on Wednesday, 18th January 2012 arraigned before Magistrate Komba Kamanda of Magistrate Court No. 2 charged with the offence of robbery with aggravation.
Scott was arraigned together with one Ishmael Cliff, a laborer at the Government Wharf. According to the police charge sheet, Scott and Cliff on Friday, 13th January 2012 on Garrison Street in Freetown, robbed one Mohamed Bangura of many valuable items totaling in value Le500, 000 (five hundred thousand Leones) and in the process did use personal violence to the said Mohamed Bangura a business man of 46 Goderich Street in Freetown.
Although the accused persons were not legally represented, the Prosecution objected to bail on the basis that the offence was serious even though the offence was bail able. He maintained that if the accused were granted bail, they were likely to jump the bail and or interfere with prosecution witnesses. The accused were therefore remanded in custody and the matter was adjourned to Wednesday, 25th January 2012.
