During the two day inter-sec competition which was sponsored by Mercury International ended on Friday 14th May at Bo school and was dominated by Methodist High School of Bo
This was disclosed to Awoko by the coordinator for Mercury International in Bo and Kenema Rodney Michael who described the two day athletics meeting as a success as they were able to discover new talents in athletics that will represent the country in international competition in the coming years.
Rodney stated that the domination of Methodist High School came as a surprise as the schools that were expecting to dominate the competition like C K C, Bo School and host of others were unable to leave up to expectation.
Methodist High School was able to win most of the relays like the 4×100 meters and they also won the major events like the 100, 200 and 400 meters.
Rodney further stated that the performances of Methodist High School can be compared with any school in Freetown
Rodney also praised the Ministry of Education Youth and Sports officials in Bo for the manner in which they were able to organize the competition as every department in the organizing committee performed more than expectation.
Rodney mentioned that this is the first time in the history of athletics that 288 medals were distributed to the athletes who took part in the competition. He also praised the student for the friendly atmosphere which they were able to cultivate during the meet.
Rodney averred that come next year Mercury International is going to do everything possible to make sure that the competition become better as this is part of their social corporate responsibility in the country.
