To fulfill their corporate social responsibility the chairman of Mercury International, Samir Hassanyeh, yesterday handed over five million Leones to the Sierra Leone National Deaf football team.
Presenting the money, Mr Hassanyeh said the association appealed to them for sponsorship for a friendly football match with their Liberian counterparts to be hosted in Liberia on Independence day.
He disclosed that Mercury International had recently donated Le 5 million to the St George’s Home and was also helping the School for the Blind.
Receiving the money the association’s president Ramatu Sesay thanked Mercury International for the donations, adding that Mercury had given hope to the hopeless.
She said the association was formed in 1998 with 226 members and that they were also engaged in carpentry, soap making and hair dressing. The president revealed that 30 of them would be traveling to Liberia for the match on Thursday and would return on the 29.
