Sierra Leone’s number one Sports Betting and Lottery Company Mercury International (SL) Ltd., on Thursday 1st November 2012 gave the Sierra Leone National Cycling Association (SLNCA) a cash sum of Thirty Million Leones to enable the association participate in the African continental Cycling championship slated for Burkina Faso.
The six days competition will run from 6th to 11th November and the Sierra Leone delegation which comprises of 4 cyclists and 2 officials left yesterday for Burkina Faso by road going through Guinea, Mali onto Burkina Faso.
Making the presentation to the SLNCA, on behalf of Mercury International Charity Foundation, Chairman Samir Hassanyeh the company Secretary Syl R Decker hailed the SLNCA for “always raising Sierra Leone’s flag high in the international sports arena.”
Samir Hassanyeh stated that the cash cheque of Thirty Million Leones is part of their corporate social responsibility and more over to assist the Cycling Association have a successful trip.
The company Secretary wished the entire delegation ‘good luck in the competition and hoped they will win gold!
SLNCA President Winston DC Crowther, expressed thanks and appreciation to Mercury International for the timely support to his association which will go a long way in helping them to participate in the African Continental Cycling Championship for the first time.
The Cycling President disclosed that this is not the first time Mercury International has come to their aid and he hoped that the relationship will continue because if not for Mercury International the trip to Burkina Faso would not have been a reality.
The officials are Winston DC Crowther leader of delegation and Solomon Collier are the two officials
The Cyclists are Moses L Sesay National team Captain, Augustine Sesay, Mohamed Thorley and Suleiman Bah the delegation is expected back on the 15th of November 2012.
