Tercury International, a leading sports betting and Lottery Company has lifted the moral of the members of Sports Writers Association of Sierra Leone (SWASAL) to cover the Leone Stars encounter against Egypt in Cairo on Sunday September 5.
The company over the weekend approved a budget of over twelve million Leones to cover the match which include air ticket accommodation, per diem, internal transportation in Cairo, daily up dates and cost of mobile recharge card.
The purpose of the sponsorship is for SWASAL in turn is to provide full radio commentary throughout the Country from the Cairo International Stadium
The Secretary General of the association Frank Cole disclosed to Awoko Sports that they made a request to Mercury International to sponsor one or two members to cover the match against Egypt in Cairo following pronouncement made by the Managing Director
Martin Micheal during a press briefing on June 8 before three members of the association departed for the World Cup in South Africa.
According to Frank Cole the company wants to keep to their promises that are why they have decided to come on board to sponsor.
According to a press release dated 25th August 2010 the association went further expressing their profound gratitude to the Managing Director of Mercury International
Martin Michael for conceiving the idea of partnering with the only recognized Sports Journalists Association in the country.
The press release also lauded the Board Chairman Samir Hassaniyeh and the proprietors of Mercury International for granting their request and approving the budget
This is the second sponsorship by Mercury International to SWASAL in a space of two
Months, the first was a partial one to three members of the Association to cover the first World Cup in Africa.
