Mercury International has donated the sum of Le50m to boost the Sierra Leone Premier League Board (PLB) as part of their own contribution to run this year’s Premier League which is expected to start on 26th February in Makeni. The Premier League Board Chairman Rodney Michael said Mercury International is one of the sponsors for this year’s Premier League that is why the executive of the company has decided to come onboard to approve the sum of 50 million Leones as they want to see the game develop in the country.
Rodney also stated that it is now left with the Board to meet with Mercury International to collect the money.
He also stated that the Board is trying to complete arrangements with the other sponsors and they will call the sports journalists to a press conference to brief them about the development made so far by the Premier League Board.
Rodney stated that they appreciate Mercury International’s contribution to the Board which will help to run the league. Rodney also mentioned that this is not the first time Mercury International has donated to football adding that they made several contributions over the past years.
