Leader of the People’s Movement for Democratic Change (PMDC), Charles Francis Margai, has warned the APC to stop harassing President Ernest Bai Koroma for jobs if they want to maintain the power.
The PMDC leader, who formed an alliance with the APC to victory, was paying tribute to the late S.A.T Koroma yesterday at the APC’s headquarters where he cautioned supporters to stop harassing President Koroma, noting that power could only be sustained if honest support was given to the president.
He further cautioned that APC supporters should not pressure the president to just sack people from their jobs because they needed one.
Speaking about his own experience he got recently with some of his supporters scolding him for jobs, Mr Margai explained that after the elections it took the president time to appreciate what he did for his victory.
He said when he was asked by the president what he wanted, he told him he was not going to accept any appointment as he thought of the mandate given to them by the people.
“I do not want to become president at all cost, if the president succeeds all of us have succeeded. The president will not give all of us jobs and he will just not come and remove every body from their jobs,” he said.
Mr Margai appealed to the APC supporters to exercise patience and give their honest support to President Koroma.
President Koroma earlier remarked, whilst giving his tribute to the late S.A.T Koroma, that, “not every body will have position but your commitment is most necessary.”
