An environmental focused group Marampa Welfare Trust that is geared towards restoring glory to the Lunsar township has been launched.
Launching the Welfare Trust in Lunsar on Thursday, Paramount Chief Bai Koblo Queen II called on the chiefdom people to embrace the trust whole heartedly. He praised the initiator of the project Alan Kabia for remembering about his native land.
The Paramount Chief said the project will be dealing with waste management in the chiefdom and assistance to school going pupils.
The Chairman of the Trust Ajiboda explained that the project came about in 2006 when Alan Kabia was in Lunsar on holidays and encouraged them to come together and plan for the chiefdom.
He further explained that due to the under developed nature of the chiefdom, the Marampa Welfare Trust formed on the initiative of Alan Kabia is being supported by London Mining Company.
The Chairman of the ceremony, Pat Abdulai said he was pleased with the Trust moreso with their involvement in improving education in the chiefdom, and urged the people of Masimera to join hands with the Trust.
The Trust has so far provided fifty scholarships to pupils attending the Marampa Islamic Secondary School and the A.B Wurie School with plans to extend their assistance to other schools. They have also provided a land rover to be attached to the hospital inorder to help transport corpses from the hospital. Currently the Trust is constructing a resource center that will create amusement, host adult literacy classes and programs and other developments within the surrounding village.
