A man, Mohamed Jalloh, has been sentenced to three months imprisonment at the Kenema Magistrate Court presided by Tonia Mbawah.
Mr Jalloh was standing trial for unlawful possession of a substance known as cannabis sativa, locally called ‘diamba’, contrary to section 48 (1) of the Pharmacy and drug Act of 1988.
According to the prosecutor, PC 4938 Lawundeh, the accused was on September 3 arrested in the prison yard when he tried to smuggle three ties of the substance through an opening in the wall.
He pleaded guilty to the offence during the trial after which the sentence was then passed.
