Convict Charles Yajoh, 18, of Jagbahun Village in the Lower Bambara Chiefdom, Kenema District was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment by High Court Judge Justice Abdulrahman Mansaray in his last appearance at the High Court in Kenema on one count charge of sexual penetration contrary to Section 19 of the Sexual Offences Act 2012. The particulars stated that Yajoh on diverse dates between 1st December 2019 and 6th May 2020 sexually penetrated a girl under the age of 18, to wit, 16.
The Senior State Counsel and Customary Law Officer East, Momoh Lansana, told the court that when the victim’s mother caught the convict sexually abusing her daughter, she went and reported the matter to the father, who wasted no time and immediately went and reported to the police who later charged the matter to court for further investigation.
The convict pleaded guilty as charged.
Patrick Kamara of the Legal Aid Board defended the convict.
