Police at the Kenema Police division are currently investigating a man they caught at the Bandama checkpoint with bundles of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis sativa.
Inspector Michael Juveh, Commanding Officer of Bandama Checkpoint, explained that on the 4th December 2012, Sgt. 787 Brima Amara attached to the checkpoint arrested a large quantity of dried leaves suspected to be Cannabis Sativa. He disclosed that the said leaves, which were concealed in a 50KG rice bag, was discovered in a Passenger Bus, with registration number AGC 412 and an inscription “District Rural Transport”, which was from Freetown.
He said that the driver of the vehicle, one Abdullah Jalloh of No. 1 Old Road, Waterloo, was questioned and he disclosed that the bag of suspected dried leaves was owned by one Mohamed Fassay of No. 21 Hindowa Street Kenema, who was also a passenger in his vehicle.
Meanwhile, both the suspect and the driver are presently in Police custody at the Kenema Police division helping the police with the investigation. This is not the first time such arrest has been made at this checkpoint.
