Two officials of the Mining and General Services (MAGS) have been caught in the dragnet of the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) for alleged misappropriation of public funds.
The two arrested on Tuesday are Mr. Charles Rogers, Managing Director and Mr. Sylvanus Pratt, accountant. They are alleged to have misappropriated public property, corrupt acquisition of wealth, abuse of office, abuse of position and using his office for advantage. According to a press release from the ACC Mr. Sylvanus Pratt on the other hand is being investigated for allegation of misappropriation of public funds. MAGS is a government owned company, whose main function is acting as a shipping agent broker, clearing and forwarding agent and providing travel services. It is one of the sixteen institutions earmarked by government for privatization through the National Commission for Privatisation (NCP).
