Rtd. Brigadier Julius Maada Bio and his team recently paid a visit to Kailahun District as part of his effort to drum up more support for his Sierra Leone People’s Party leadership aspiration campaign across the country.
He was met by delegates across the Kailahun District drawn from the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) party soliciting their support to become the flag bearer of the party in the 2012 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.
Brigadier Bio told SLPP supporters that among all the candidates that are aspiring to become flag bearer of the SLPP he is the rightful person that can take the party back to power by challenging President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma in the forthcoming Presidential and Parliamentary elections. He called on them to make sure that he succeeds in his aspiration thereby moving the country forward in terms of every positive move for the benefit of the nation. The former Head of State highlighted some of the successes he claimed to have recorded during his tenure as leader of the National Provisional Ruling Council including his peaceful handing over of power to a democratically elected civilian government.
Maada Bio cautioned the SLPP delegates that are now faced with the authority to elect the leader of the party during its national delegates conference that will come soon not to repeat what he described as the Makeni mistake and encouraged delegates to vote him as the flag bearer of the party in order to improve the party’s chances of winning the 2012 general elections.
Rtd. Brigadier Bio further assured delegates that he is a strong, loyal and committed member of the party whose intention is to reinstate the party back to power come 2012 to pick up from where they left before they were ousted from power in the 2007 Presidential and Parliamentary elections of the Country. He appealed for hard work and commitment amongst party supporters at all times.
In his statement the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) Kailahun District chairman Albert Jabai assured Maada Bio of their fullest support at all times to make him the flag bearer of the party that can put up a strong resistance against the ruling All People’s Party (APC) party in the forthcoming Presidential and Parliamentary elections.
Mr. Jabai called for unity among his party and warned that the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) can only succeed in the 2012 Presidential and Parliamentary elections if Rtd. Brigadier Julius Maada Bio is voted in as the party’s flag bearer indicating that Rtd. Brigadier Julius Maada Bio is not new to the Presidency as he knows the inner core of it.
