Lumley wins COFA inter-area competition

Lumley Community on Wednesday won the 4th edition of the Central One football Association inter-area football league when they defeated their opponent FC Farm by four goals to two(4-2) on a penalty shoot out.
After a goalless draw at full time the two teams that started the match in very high spirit missed chances throughout the 90 minutes of play.
At the end of the month long competition the winner went away with a million and five hundred thousand Leones prize and a trophy while the runners up got Seven Hundred and Fifty thousand Leones.
The winning trophy was presented by the chairman of Premier League Board Alpha Timbo and the runners-up trophy was presented by the Chairman of Sports Committee in Parliament Nuru Deen Sankoh
The best Newspaper award went to Salone Times, the best reporter went to Alimamy Sesay, the best Radio station was Kallone, and the best commentator was Emmanuel
The best goalkeeper award went to Christian Caulker of Lumley community, best mid-fielder during the competition went to Kelfala Jabbie, best defender was Osman Tolo Kamara, and highest goal scorer went to Mohamed Bangura of Brookfields. The most outstanding referee was Joseph Mansaray and the best player award went to Suleiman Kamara
Speaking to Awoko Sports the chairman of COFA Sammah Sesay said that this year’s inter area competition was a success as they were able to identify the problems during the last competition and they were able to address them.
He also stated that the journalists also played a pivotal role by giving the necessary publicity which attracted football fans to witness the matches.
He also praised the teams for their behaviour during the competition
