Kenema, SIERRA LEONE – The newly transfered Local Unit Commander from Lunsar division to Kenema division Murana Eric Kamara has officially replaced the former LUC Morie Kamara who has been sent to Freetown as Deputy Commander Freetown West.
He said police work is the same where ever someone is posted. He said on his new table he met the issue of the three missing persons in Kenema city. His first task is he has held a meeting with the community people of Pujehun section and it’s environs, during the engagement he called on residents to provide information to the police that will uncover the mysterious disappearance of the three persons in Kenema.
He appealed to the community to have confidence in the police force, adding we are now in the modern world of policing where the community and the police should continue to work together in combating crime.
He said before now those who provide information to the police were subjected to some questioning, a situation that no longer exists in the police force, and that is why the police usually meet the community with engagement to ensure proper policing.
He said the police number is very small as compared to the community, and that his office is always open to all and sundry for any useful visit, if possible to first call on his line 077250352 to inform him about the pending visit.
The new LUC used the opportunity to warn some members of the community to desist from the habit of forceful initiation into the secret society, saying he has reports of such issues on his table.
He disclosed that before now the Paramount chief of Nongowa chiefdom PC Mohamed Sadique Kapuwa has called on his subjects to desist from such a move forth with. He described Kenema as a city and not a village for such activities.
The new LUC assured all of the continuous peace before, during, and after elections. SM/17/3/2023
