Domestic Violence, political intolerance and infighting in post war Sierra Leone has become a serious problem for the police and other authoritarian bodies in Freetown and the rest of the country to address. Following the coming in to power of the All Peoples Congress (APC) party, resumption of clashes amongst youths supporting one political party and the other has left doubting minds that the effects of the war on citizens are over.
In one of these clashes, a young lady, Mariatu Jobe, on 11 May 2009 narrowly escape a group of thugs who came to her Sorie Town residence, central ward of Freetown to ask for her boy friend Reginald Clarke, culminating in her to suffer an abortion when she hit a stone and fell in a ditch and was rushed to the hospital for medical treatment.
According to an eye witness who is a very close friend of Reginald, the attack he said is in respect of a secret Reginald revealed to the police about the death of the coordinator/director of an NGO on the 29th September 2004 as he was employed by the organization. This has caused him to flee as his life is in danger.
Reports confirmed from some friends and neighbours stated that Reginald is a quiet and innocent man and has been only interested in promoting youthful awareness and sensitization for the development of his community.
His girlfriend is still recovering from the post traumatic disorder
