The Chairman of the oversight committee in Parliament Nuru Deen Sankoh has said in Freetown that there is a lot of corruption in football.
He made this statement in Parliament last Friday at committee room no.1 when Lumley Community the new crowned champions of the just concluded Central One Football Association(COFA) inter area league presented the winning trophy to the committee.
He said as a committee they are doing their best to address some of these corrupt acts as football is the most popular sports in the world. That is why he said they are trying to bring every one together for the good of the game because with corruption the game of football will never develop.
He also mentioned that apart from football the committee has also solved other problems in other associations that should have divided the association but with their timely intervention they were able to bring peace and unity in these associations.
He went further to appeal to Lumley Community that the committee will meet and oversee their problems and come next competition they want Lumley community to make a big difference in the league and with the help of Salamatu Turay who is representing them in parliament they are sure to win the competition next year.
Chernor Bah who is also part of the committee in his own contribution said he was moved by the executive and players to present the trophy to the oversight committee of Youth and Sports that is a sign that they have respect for the committee.
He also mentioned that he was also impressed with the performance of the team that was why they were able to win the trophy.
He also mentioned that with the kind of calibre of people in the executive he has no doubt in them so he will do everything possible to come on board to assist them as the Lumley community is a force to reckon with in football.
