The Local Content Agency has trained over 100 local entrepreneurs, according to the Director General, Fodeba Daboh, on Wednesday 22nd January 2020. The training was supported by the World Bank, GIZ, and International Labour Organization. The trainings focused on capacity building so that local entrepreneurs might compete with international businesses. The LCA boasts of a national database of local manufacturers available at www.localcontentagency.gov.sl. “We want to ensure that local products increase productivity,” he said. The “Made in Salone” initiative, made into a law for supermarkets, has seen most of the supermarkets host local content shelves of honey, benni, banana chips, coffee, etc. The DG said plans are underway to review the Local Content Act of 2016. Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, Daniel Fornah, said the review is a step in the right direction. He noted that companies have methods of operations, so there was every need for the Act to have been reviewed in order to meet the operational pattern of companies.
