Mighty Blackpool technical Director Christian Cole disclosed to Awoko that East End Lions were unfortunate to win the Salone Premier League as they were not the best team in the league. It was sheer luck that was on their side during the league.
He also mentioned that Lions was able to maintain their lead in the league because most of their players were matured so they were able to contain the pressure.
Coach Cole also stated that if the league was played on two rounds it would have been a different story. Lions should not have clinched the championship because most of the other teams towards the end improved greatly and that should make the second rounds more competitive.
He went further to describe the coming premier league to be a very competitive as it will be played on a two rounds which will give every team the chance to play about 26 matches instead of the previous 13 in the last Salone Premier League.
He stated that because of the standard of the past premier league, this particular one will have more momentum because during the last premier, the board did a very good work.
He said many teams are expected to sign new players to beef up their squads for the coming league season as all the teams are going to compete for the championship this time around
In the coming league their will be no push over’s as every team want to stay in the premier league and this will make this league more competitive than the last.
Coach Cole appealed to the Premier League Board to liaise with the Sierra Leone Football Association to appoint technical personnel for different national teams in the country as the standard of the players have now improved.
This will make it easy to develop the teams before their international assignments
