East End Lions over the weekend revenged on their opponents Nepean Stars by defeating them by three goals to nil at the National Stadium in Freetown. They now have 39 points out of 23 games played.
In the other match, Mount Aureol and Diamond Stars played to a goalless draw.
The draw has affected Mount Aureol who are now on 12th position with 20 points out of 24 matches played. They are currently fighting relegation.
Diamond Stars now have 26 points out of 22 games played so far with four games more to go in the league.
On Friday, Ports Authority secured three points and three goals without kicking a ball as their opponents Gem Stars failed to honour the fixtures.
Ports Authority have now secured 44 points out of 23 matches played so far, and are now lined up in the third position.
The administrative secretary of the Sierra Leone Football Academy, Abubakarr Kabbah, told Awoko Sports that about 26 matches are now outstanding before the end of this year’s premier league. He mentioned that the league had reached a critical stage.
The league continues on Friday as Golf Leopards host Gem Stars at the National Stadium.
