East End Lions dented the hopes and aspirations of their arch-rivals Ports Authority with a 2-0 win in the Premier League encounter played at the National Stadium last Sunday.
Both goals were recorded in both half of play in a high tension packed encounter that produced some brilliant performances during the match.
The trainer of East End Lions Abu Sankoh said the winning was a relief for the entire technical staff and the team as a whole who were under serious pressure after losing two in a row which was not good for the team.
That is why they came very strong to win today’s match to try very hard to maintain their position and to keep piling pressure on FC Kallon.
When asked if the title race is over, Abu Sankoh said it is not yet over as they have now secured 44 points from 22 matches with 4 matches to go trailing FC Kallon by 6 points with a game at hand.
In the other match played, Old Edwardians defeated Nepean Stars by two goals to one (2-1) at the National Stadium with all the goals coming in the second half of play.
Albert Kargbo scored both goals for Old Edwardians in the 47 and 50 minutes of play and Nepean Stars scored a consolation goal in the 88 minutes of play.
Old Edwardians has now secured 30 points from 23 matches with 3 matches to go the coach of Old Edwardians Amidu Koroma said the winning is very important for the team and they are now looking up to their remaining 3 matches which they hope to win at all cost as the boys are now focus and determine.
Amidu Koroma appeal to Old Boys of the school to come on board to support the team financially.
This particular defeat has affected Nepean Stars in the league as they are fighting relegation with 17 points from 22 matches with 4 matches to go.
The league will continue tomorrow with Golden Dragons hosting FC Kallon and on Thursday Ports Authority will play against Mighty Blackpool.
