Lion Mountain Female handball team on Saturday won the Anabi sports and Entertainment Foundation female handball competition at the National Stadium defeating their opponent German Leopards 13-5.
Speaking to Awoko Sports after the competition, one of the organizer Anabi Yusuf Kamara said that the competition is to spot female players that will represent the national U-20 female team in the second edition of the Africa Challenge Female Zone competition slated for August 15-22 this year.
According to Anabi their will be another competition next month before the team departs for Mali which will serve as trials before the final selection will be made.
He thanked the President of Handball Association Dr Patrick Coker, the Mayor of the Freetown City Council Herbert George Williams, Bishop Joshua Coker and Abu Bakar Tawarally of Red Cross for the their financial support to make the competition a reality.
He also appeals to companies, and government to come on board and support the association so that they will achieve their aims and objectives.
